If you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11 then you are at risk of cyber attack. Some security flaws have been found in both of these, due to which your sensitive information can be stolen. In view of this, government agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a cyber security warning. This warning applies to individual users as well as organizations that are using Windows-based systems for their daily operations.

Because of this, Windows users are in danger

According to CERT-In, a flaw has been found in the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) component of Microsoft Windows. This system is used to render graphical user interface. Some memory objects in this component are not being handled properly, which has led to this security flaw. Taking advantage of this, local attackers can steal sensitive information from the system’s memory. This security flaw threatens users using 1607, 1809, 21H2 and 22H2 versions of Windows 10 and 23H2, 24H2 and 25H2 versions of Windows 11.

What advice for users?

CERT-In has not considered this security flaw as a serious threat, but by stealing sensitive data, major cyber attacks can be carried out or the overall security can be reduced. In view of this, the agency has advised users to install security updates without delay. To remove these flaws, Microsoft has released security patches, which can be installed to protect against the dangers of cyber attacks. Also, users have been asked to regularly check security updates and keep their system updated. This reduces the fear of cyber attacks.
