After December 15, users will not be able to log in to this app. If a user tries to log in, he will be redirected to the Facebook website, where he can continue his conversation.

According to the messenger’s help page, Meta is soon going to start the process of shutting down this app and users will be informed about it through in-app alerts. It is written on the page that if you use the Messenger desktop app, you will get an alert as soon as the closure process starts. After December 15, users will not be able to log in to the Messenger app. Meta appealed to the users to delete this app after its closure and said that after December 15, this app will be of no use.

Meta has started informing users before closing the app so that they can switch to another access method. Windows users will be able to continue their messaging from the Facebook desktop app and Facebook website after Messenger is closed. Similarly, Mac users will have the option to use Messenger through the Facebook website.

Before closing the app, Meta has advised users to turn on secure storage and setup a PIN so that their chat history can be saved. With its help, when users use Messenger from the web version of Facebook, their chats will be automatically synced on all supported devices. Apart from this, Meta has also made it clear that those who are using only Messenger account, they will be able to log in through Messenger online client without creating a Facebook account.

Microsoft has started an Extended Security Updates (ESU) program to give its users a little more time. Under this, users will continue to get security updates till 13 October 2026. This feature is for those who do not want to upgrade to Windows 11 at this time or whose systems cannot run on it. According to the company, this is not a permanent solution but a temporary security bridge so that users can easily migrate to the new system while remaining safe.

How much will it cost and who will get the chance for free update?

The price of the ESU program has been kept at $30 (approximately Rs 2,500) but it is completely free for European users. Rest of the users also have two free options.

Sync your settings to OneDrive via Windows Backup or redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards Points. By choosing one of these options, you can get Windows 10 security updates for free until 2026.

How to enroll in Windows 10 ESU program

First of all, make sure that the latest version of Windows 10 (22H2) is installed on your PC.

Check by going to Settings → Windows Update → View Update History.

If all is well then in the Windows Update section you will see a message “Windows 10 support ends in October 2025” and below there will be a link “Enroll in Extended Security Updates”. Clicking on it will open the ESU Enrollment Wizard. You can now choose OneDrive sync, $30 payment or 1,000 Rewards Points. You can join this program any time till 13 October 2026.

Some users have not yet received “Enroll Now” option.

According to reports, this feature has not been activated yet on some systems. On many testing devices, the “Enroll Now” link did not appear despite the required update (KB5063709). Microsoft spokesperson has said that this feature is gradually being rolled out in all markets.

Create a backup on OneDrive

Select the “Back up your PC settings” option in the ESU Wizard and start syncing with your Microsoft account to OneDrive. Note, Microsoft only provides 5GB of free storage, so you may have to pay extra for more data.

If you have 1,000 or more points, redeem them to get the ESU update at no cost.

Windows 10 has performed well in the last decade, but now its journey is in its final stages. Coyote Malware: A new and dangerous cyber attacker has surfaced called Coyote Malware. This malware is now stealing the banking information of users by making the accessibility tools of Windows as its weapon. This malware misuses the UI Automation feature of Windows, especially which was originally designed to help the disabled users.

How does this malware work?

Coyote usually enters the computer through a valid -looking installer such as Squirrel Installer. Once installed, it quietly becomes active in the background and starts collecting basic information of the system. Then it monitors which window or apps the user is opening.

If the user accesses a banking website or Crypto Exchange, then this malware reads the data seen on the screen with the help of UI Automation feature. It can also remove the URL of the website from the tabs and address bar of the browser and introduces them to its target list. If the URL matches a bank or a crypto platform, it tries to steal login details or wallet information immediately.

Who is targeting Coyote at the moment?

Right now this malware is the most active in Brazil. There are the main targets like Banco Do Brasil, Santander, and Crypto Exchange. But it is a matter of concern that often cyber attackers first trial new malware in any one country and then spread it around the world.

The most dangerous thing about Coyote is that it uses Windows inbuilt tools. For this reason traditional antivirus software does not recognize it and it keeps stealing data quietly in the system.

Layerx Labs Report It is reported that in the beginning, this fishing attack used to show fake security alerts on the websites made, claiming that the user’s computer has become ‘compromise’ and ‘locked’. Attackers used to ask users to enter their Windows username and passwords, while the wrong code freezed the webpage, causing the illusion of the computer being locked. These fishing pages were hosted on Microsoft’s Windows.NET platforms, which looked valid and escaped from traditional security solutions.

However, the report suggests that these attacks saw a decline of 90% in these attacks after the rollout of the new security features by Microsoft, Chrome and Firefox. In response, the attackers re -upgraded their campaign to target MAC users. The firm says that this time in new fishing efforts, page layouts and messages were designed to look valid for MAC users and the code was specifically changed to target Macos and Safari users. The attackers continued the use of windows.net infrastructure, causing confusion of validity.

The report says that the victims were redirected on the fishing page through the domain ‘parking’ page. For example, if the user put the wrong URL of a website, they were taken to a compromised domain parking page, which quickly took them to the fishing page. In a special case, a MACOS and Safari user, who was working for an enterprise customer of Layerx, fell victim to this attack. However, the firm used a Secure Web Gateway (SWG), which escaped the attack. However, Layerx’s AI-based identification system identified the attack by announcing the web page and stopped it before any damage.

Layerx Labs estimates that in the coming weeks or months, the attack can emerge again by understanding the new security solution, which indicates that the way to completely escape from the rapid advanced hackers is quite difficult.
