In the Jat Mahila Shakti Sangam program organized on Saturday (January 24) at the Constitution Club of Jaipur, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said that women have to work three times more hard than men in politics, only then they get recognition and place. He said that this is the truth, but women are continuously moving forward with their struggle and determination.

In this program, President of Jat Mahasabha Rajaram Meel said that Vasundhara Raje has played a big role in saving Jat reservation. He told that the work of providing reservation to the Jats of Dholpur and Bharatpur was also done under the leadership of Raje.

Improving women literacy and representation

Vasundhara Raje told through statistics that at the time of independence, the female literacy rate in the country was only 9 percent, which has increased to 65 percent today. The number of women candidates in general elections was 3 percent in 1957, which has now reached 10 percent.

There were 22 women MPs in the first Lok Sabha, whereas today this number has increased to 74. The number of women in Rajya Sabha has also increased from 15 to 42, but she said that this is still not enough and participation of women should be equal to that of men.

Told education the key to success

The former CM said that Pratibha Patil and Draupadi Murmu have proved that education is the real key to success. He said that educated women can provide better leadership in every field.

Citing the examples of Dr. Kamla Beniwal, Hema Malini, Sumitra Singh, Dr. Priyanka Choudhary, Rita Choudhary, Dr. Shikha Meel, Sushila Barala, Padmashree awardee Krishna Poonia, Kamla Kanswa and Divya Maderna, Raje said that women have made a strong identity in politics. In this program, MLA Dr. Shikha Meel, former MLA Krishna Poonia and former judge Dr. Rajendra Chaudhary also expressed their views and laid emphasis on women empowerment.
