Thappad: Anubhav Sinha’s film ‘Thappad’ brought on screen the stories of domestic violence and family pressure, in which women are often not able to stand up for their rights. In the film released in 2020, Taapsee Pannu played the role of Amrita, a normal housewife, showing how a small slap changed her life and she raised her voice for her rights.

Hichki: Rani Mukherjee played a different role in the film ‘Hichki’ released in 2018. In the film, she faces the challenge of Tourette Syndrome in the role of teacher Naina Mathur. This film spreads awareness in the society about diseases and mental challenges which are often taken lightly. Rani’s character shows that with confidence and patience every woman can make her dreams come true.
