There has been a huge increase in the prize money of this tournament, which starts from June 12 in England, which reflects the growing stature of women’s cricket and its commercial success. The special thing is that this time the tournament will be the biggest Women’s T20 World Cup till date, in which 12 teams will participate for the first time. A total of 33 matches will be played on seven different grounds in England.

According to the new prize money announced by the ICC, the team that wins the tournament will be given $2.34 million (more than Rs 22 crore), while the runner-up team will get $1.17 million (about Rs 11 crore). Apart from this, all 12 teams will also be given a fixed participation amount of $247,500 (approximately Rs 2 crore). Not only this, both the losing teams in the semi-finals will also get prize money of approximately Rs 6.56 crore. It is clear from this that ICC is continuously taking steps towards making women’s cricket financially stronger.

This time the format of the tournament has also been changed. 12 teams have been divided into two groups of 6-6. In the league stage, each team will play one match each against the remaining five teams of its group. After this, the top two teams of both the groups will reach the semi-finals.

India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh and Netherlands have been kept in Group-1. Whereas Group-2 includes England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Scotland and Ireland.
