According to the new rules, now the employee will get double payment from general wages for overtime if you do more than 10 hours of work on any day or more than 48 hours a week. Now the establishments can be open for 24 hours and 365 days. The government can issue the maximum daily work period up to 12 hours by issuing notification, provided the employees get the necessary comfort.

Women will be able to work at night
Apart from this, the ban on working at night has been lifted. Women employees can also be employed at work at night according to their written consent. At the Gram Panchayat level, the Godabarish Adarsh ​​Vidyalaya Scheme was approved. Under this, 2200 model schools will be built. The estimated expenditure will be 12 thousand crores.

Telangana government: The government has taken a big decision in view of promoting business in Telangana. Orders have been issued to allow employees to work for 10 hours per day, while working for 48 hours per week is allowed to work for 10 hours per day.

According to an order issued by the state’s labor, employment, training and factory department on Saturday (July 5, 2025), this exemption has been given under the Telangana Shops and Establishment Act, 1988 (Act No. 20 of 1988).

‘It is necessary to give a break of at least 30 minutes for working more than 6 hours’

According to the report of India Today, in the notification issued by the state government, such establishments have been exempted from sections 16 and 17 of the Act, which are related to hours and relaxation intervals under specific terms. According to the official order, the weekly work limit should not exceed 48 hours. The work done beyond these boundaries will be considered eligible for overtime salary. Also, if employees work more than six hours per day, then they should be given a break of at least 30 minutes.

Employees will have to pay additional salary on overtime

Apart from this, the total time of work and comfort should not be more than 12 hours a day. Employees may be allowed to work more than 48 hours a week on overtime salary, but no more than 144 hours in any quarter.

The government has clearly stated that the exemption given to the company concerned will be canceled for violating these conditions. This order will be effective after publication in the Telangana Gazette on Tuesday (July 8, 2025).

Researchers found that 5.3 percent of people had asthma, of which 1.9 percent had moderate or severe asthma, ie they were taking asthma drugs and inhalers. Research did not make it clear why there is a relationship between night shifts and asthma, but researchers say that this can be due to disturbances in the body’s body clock, affecting the level of male and female hormones.

Risk more due to hormones

The high level of testosterone in men provides protection from asthma, which is less in women. In addition, men and women work in different shifts, which may be a reason. Dr. Medstone said, “HRT can protect against asthma in women working in night shifts, but more research is needed.” After menopause, the risk of asthma was found to be high in women who were not taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The risk of asthma in such women who shifted night shifts was doubled compared to the work in the day. Now they are planning to know whether sex hormones have any connection between work and asthma in shifts.
