Among the large automobile companies, Mahindra & Mahindra’s XEV 9E and Be 6 Electric SUVs have received good response from customers. The company has delivered more than 10,000 units of XEV 9E and BE 6 in 70 days. Mahindra & Mahindra got more than 30,100 units of bookings for these electric SUVs. The XEV 9E stake in it was more than half.

The two options for the Battery for Xev 9e and Be 6 are of 59 kwh and 79 kwh. The company has reported that the range of 59 kWh variants of XEV 9E is about 542 km and 79 kwh in a single charge of about 650 km. The range of both battery variants of BE 6 is 530 km and about 680 km respectively. Due to high demand for XEV 9E and BE 6, the waiting period in some areas has increased to six months. The company has stated that manufacturing and delivery capacity is being increased to fulfill the increasing demand.

The initial price of BE6 is about Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and XEV 9E is about Rs 21.90 lakh. BE 6 is made available in five variants. The XEV 9E and BE 6 have received a five-star rating in the India NCAP crash test. The manufacturing company of these electric SUVs is being done at Chakan’s plant in Maharashtra.

Recently, Mahindra & Mahindra had said that there would not be a condition to buy charger with BE6 and XEV 9E electric SUVs. The company earlier made it mandatory to buy certified charger from Mahindra with both these electric SUVs. However, the condition was removed on the basis of feedback from customers. Customers of BE6 and XEV 9E were mandatory for the 11.2 kW battery pack to pay around Rs 75,000 from the charger and about Rs 50,000 for a charger of 7.2 kW. However, the company has given the option not to choose it by changing its policy. The company may soon launch the XEV 7E Electric SUV.
