US President Donald Trump has reached Beijing for his historic summit. On Thursday (May 14), Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Trump in Beijing. A bilateral meeting took place between the two leaders. During the meeting, Jinping and Trump praised each other. The Chinese President said that ‘we are allies, not rivals. Both countries will benefit from strong relations. Together we will change the world.

Trump said that relations between China and America will improve. Trump said, ‘Jinping is my good friend and a great leader. Relations between America and China are excellent and will get better in the future. We have more common interests than differences. This visit of Trump is being considered special. This is the first state visit by a sitting US President to China since President Trump’s last visit in 2017.

Focus will be on business

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump will attend several other official programs after meeting President Xi Jinping and participating in the official state arrival ceremony. Before leaving the White House for China, President Trump had indicated that trade would be the biggest issue in this summit. He said, we have great relations with China. We both are superpowers and there are many important issues to be discussed. Most focus will be on business.

Earlier, when he reached Beijing on May 13, China’s Vice President Han Zheng gave him a grand welcome. Trump had said while talking to the media that America and China are the two biggest powers in the world and the relations between the two countries are ‘strong and stable’. He said, my relations with President Xi Jinping are excellent. We have always got along well and China has been great to work with. US President Trump described US-China economic relations as beneficial for both the countries.
