Indian cricket team’s spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been in the news many times in his life for wrong reasons. Recently, in a podcast, he has revealed about the most difficult phase of his life. Punjab Kings’ Chahal said that quitting alcohol was the best decision of his life. He made this disclosure during a conversation with female cricketer Harleen Deol in the ‘Candid with Kings’ podcast. He also shared many experiences related to depression, mental health and his personal life in the podcast.

Quitting alcohol is the best decision of my life

During a conversation in the podcast, Harleen Deol asked Chahal, “You have given up drinking, right?”

On this, Chahal said, “I think this is the best decision of my life. After removing her from my life, I can say that my life has completely changed. Now I spend more time with my family and friends. Now I understand more clearly what is going on in my life, who is with me and who is not.”

Earlier I used to think a lot, now I focus on myself – Chahal

Chahal told that earlier he used to think too much about everything, but now he has started focusing on himself. He said, “Earlier I used to think a lot about all these things, but now I focus on myself. I play golf, go-karting.”

While talking to Harleen in the podcast, Chahal confessed that after quitting alcohol, he realized that he had missed many things in life. To this, Chahal said, “I was in the UK for county cricket, then I thought no, I have to go back and fix this thing. It has been more than six months now and I feel very happy and grateful.”

Recalling his difficult phase, Chahal said, “When I understood that alcohol was not right for me, then I decided. This is what happens when you go beyond the limit, I had also reached that stage.”

While playing for Punjab Kings, Chahal has taken 10 wickets so far in 13 matches this season. The team bought him for Rs 18 crore in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Before joining Punjab Kings, Chahal has also played for Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Overall, he has played 187 IPL matches and taken 231 wickets, including one five-wicket haul.
