Zepto IPO: Zepto, a big company in the quick commerce sector, is ready to launch its IPO. Zepto has received approval from its board of directors for an IPO of Rs 11,000 crore. This offer will be a mix of fresh equity issue and offer for sale. Zepto has submitted draft papers for the IPO with market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The company plans to debut in the stock market by next year.

Confidential route is becoming famous

With this, Zepto will become the first startup company to be listed in the Indian Stock Exchange. People with knowledge of the matter say that Zepto has submitted a pre-filed draft red herring prospectus with SEBI and the stock exchange through the confidential filing route. The company recently raised $450 million from its investors, taking its total funding to $2.3 billion.

There is a growing trend among companies, especially startups, to submit DRHP with SEBI in a confidential manner for launching IPO. This gives an opportunity to submit important information related to the company to SEBI in the initial phase without making it public. DRHP is made public after receiving feedback from SEBI and completion of preparations at its level. This confidential method is becoming popular among high-growth startups preparing for a big IPO.

Many more companies are in the queue to launch IPO

If the listing goes through, Zepto will join other listed quick-commerce companies Zomato (via Blinkit) and Swiggy (via Instamart), both of which already trade on Indian exchanges. Zomato’s parent company Eternal was listed in 2021, while Swiggy debuted in November 2024.

Just a four-year old company, Zepto had received the green signal from its shareholders to launch an IPO in the general board meeting held on December 23. Earlier, startups like Ola Electric and Honsa Consumer took six-seven years to go public. Many big companies were launched in the year 2025. It is expected that next year will also be great for IPOs. Currently, many companies including PhonePe, Flipkart, ShadowFax, ShipRocket and CureFoods are in the queue to go public.

Swiggy QIP fundraise: Online food delivery platform Swiggy is going to raise funds of up to Rs 10,000 crore. The Board of Directors of Swiggy Limited has approved the plan to raise up to Rs 10,000 crore through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and other means.

Swiggy has received board approval to consider multiple modes of raising funds primarily through public and private placement, said an exchange filing on Friday. For this, the company will also take approval from the common shareholders, for which an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) will be held through video conferencing.

Why did the company take this decision?

This fund raising is happening at a time when the company is facing tough competition from its rivals like Blinkit and Zepto in the quick commerce segment, hence Swiggy is going to take this step to strengthen its position and balance sheet in comparison to them.

Swiggy’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Rahul Bothra had said in an interview to NDTV Profit, we have seen continuously increasing investment in this sector. As both old and new players continue to attract more and more investment, we want the flexibility to raise this growth capital. He further said, “Some of this will be strategic reserves, which we will be able to invest in the growth of our quick commerce business, as well as some innovations that we will continue to do in our business.”

September quarter results

Swiggy’s loss in the second quarter of the financial year 2025-26 increased to Rs 1092 crore from Rs 626 crore in the same quarter last year. However, during this period, operational revenue increased from Rs 3601 crore in the July-September quarter last year to Rs 5561 crore this year. Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal estimates 20-22 percent revenue growth in the financial year 2026-27 and maintains ‘buy’ rating with a target price of Rs 550.

Before the launch of the IPO, the company’s plan is to increase the share of Indian investors in more than 50 percent. According to the report, Jepto can launch its IPO in FY 2026 or 2027.

The company shifted headquarters

According to listing rules in January this year, Jepto shifted his headquarters from Singapore to India. The company’s headquarters are currently in Bengaluru. Jepto has changed its parent company from Kirecart Technologies Private Limited to Jepto Private Limited. In November 2024, US $ 350 million was raised in the domestic funding round at a valuation of $ 5 billion.

Other companies associated with Quick Commerce like Blinkit and Swiggy are also delivering Apple products. Last month, the Blinkit started delivery in select cities of the company’s Macbook Air, iPad, AirPods and Apple Watch. The company claims to deliver products within 10 minutes. This service will be available in the beginning of Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Jaipur, Chennai, Pune, Lucknow and Kolkata. The scope of this service can soon be extended to many other cities. Earlier, the Blinkit started delivery service of laptops, printers, monitor and many other electronic products in just 10 minutes. These include HP laptops, Lenovo, MSI and Zebronics Monitors and Canon and HP printers. Most of these products will be delivered from the fleet of large orders of the blinkit.
