The 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tawwur Hussain Rana has been sent by Patiala House Court to 18 days NIA Custody. During this time, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will interrogate him and try to highlight every link related to the attack. The National Investigation Agency is a major investigating agency of the central government, which was established in 2009 after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. This agency investigates cases like terrorist activities, drug smuggling, human trafficking, fake currency and organized crime. The NIA has a privilege of raids, arrests and investigation anywhere across the country.
How to get a job in NIA?
There are two major avenues to become officers in NIA SSC CGL exam and UPSC exam.
If you pass the SSC CGL exam, then you are eligible for the post of Sub Inspector (SI). At the same time, if you are selected in services like IPS or IRS through UPSC, then you can get an appointment in NIA as an officer.
Apart from this, if you are already working in a law enforcement agency, you can still join the NIA through transfer or application.
CGL exam process
The SSC CGL exam is in four stages (Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4). Physical tests and interviews occur after passing all stages. After this, the candidate is given training and then he is appointed in NIA.

What is the salary of the NIA officer?
In NIA, salary varies according to the post. But the initial salary of a sub -inspector is around Rs 56,100 per month, including other allowances. This salary on the higher post can be even more.
