Smartphone Safety Tips: In winter we often take our phones for granted. Cold affects not only our health but also the battery, screen and performance of the smartphone. In low temperatures, the phone starts discharging quickly, touch becomes slow and sometimes even switches off suddenly.

Most of the damage is caused less by cold and more by our bad habits. If correct methods are adopted in time, the phone can be kept safe for a long time. Therefore, it is important to avoid some common but dangerous mistakes in winter, which gradually make the phone weak from inside.

Leaving the phone out in the cold for a long time

The most common mistake is to keep the phone in the open environment for a long time in cold weather. In very low temperatures, the chemical reaction of the lithium-ion battery slows down, due to which the battery degrades rapidly and the phone may turn off suddenly. Many times people keep their phones on the handle while riding a bike or leave them near the window at night. This also increases the risk of moisture accumulating in the screen. It is better to keep the phone in a pocket, bag or cover so that its temperature remains balanced. Do not keep the phone in a very hot place due to extreme cold. Because this can cause condensation inside.

charging a very cold phone quickly

Charging the phone immediately after coming in from the cold is one of the most dangerous habits for the battery. When the phone is very cold, its battery does not charge normally. In such a situation, charging puts additional pressure on the battery cells, due to which the life of the battery can reduce rapidly. In many cases, the risk of battery swelling or permanent damage also increases. The correct way is to let the phone remain in normal room temperature for the first 10 to 15 minutes. Plug the charger only when it starts feeling slightly normal. This small habit can keep the battery healthy for a long time.

Heavy use with thick cover in winter

In winter, people wear thick covers and do heavy use of their phones, like playing long games, making video calls or watching reels while charging. The thick cover protects from cold, but the heat of the phone does not come out during continuous use. Due to this the phone becomes very hot inside. Which is harmful for both the processor and the battery. This rapid change in cold and heat weakens the components of the phone. It would be better to remove the cover for a while during heavy use and give the phone a rest in between. With this, the temperature of the phone will remain in balance and performance will also remain maintained.
