‘Talks on radio but Modi is afraid in Parliament…’, Mallikarjun Kharge targets PM

In a public meeting held in Bhopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge strongly attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government. He cornered the government on the US-India trade deal, the condition of farmers, youth unemployment and the state of democracy and said that the country’s self-respect is being weakened.

Attack on ‘Surrender Modi’ slogan and trade deal
Kharge raised slogans of ‘Surrender Modi’ from the stage. He said that India is the world’s largest democracy, but the country’s prestige was compromised in the trade deal with America. His allegation was that the government has weakened the self-respect of the country.

Talk of danger to democracy and constitution
The Congress President said that both democracy and the Constitution are in danger in the country. He alleged that the Prime Minister talks on radio, but avoids discussion in Parliament. He demanded that the government come to Parliament and answer openly.

issue of farmers and farming
Kharge said that about 65 percent people in India are dependent on farming, whereas in America only 2-3 percent people do farming. His allegation was that small farmers are being harmed due to the government’s policies and they are not getting the right price for their crops.

Mention of youth and Youth Congress
Praising the Youth Congress, he said that the youth have strongly raised the issue of unemployment. Kharge alleged that the government is trying to suppress the voice of the youth, but Congress is not afraid.

Statement on RSS and the legacy of independence
Kharge said that Congress gave independence to the country, whereas people associated with RSS were not part of the independence movement. He said that Congress follows the ideology of Gandhi and today leaders like Rahul Gandhi are present to fight the battle of the youth. At the end of the meeting, Kharge told the party workers not to be afraid and fight strongly. He said that it is everyone’s responsibility to keep the country and freedom strong.
