Tamil Nadu Election 2026: Thursday i.e. Thursday is the last opportunity for eligible citizens of Tamil Nadu to register their names in the voter list before voting for the assembly elections on 23rd April. The Election Commission has urged all voters to take advantage of this last opportunity and ensure their participation in the democratic process.
Voting is going to be held in Tamil Nadu in a single phase, in which approximately 5.67 crore voters are involved. Ahead of the elections, officials have consistently appealed to citizens to get their names registered in the voter list to avoid any inconvenience on the polling day.
According to the Election Commission, the last date for submitting applications for registering names in the voter list has been fixed as March 26. Those whose name is not in the voter list can apply by submitting Form 6 directly to the concerned Voter Registration Officer (ERO) or through the official online portal.
Election officials said that more than three lakh applications have been received during this revision period, which shows the continuous response from the public. The nomination drive is part of efforts to ensure maximum voter participation and an inclusive electoral process.
Getting your name verified in the voter list is as important as voting in person, officials said. He also warned that failure to register within the stipulated time limit may result in losing the opportunity to vote in the upcoming assembly elections, as no further extension is likely to be granted.
Special arrangements have been made to ease registration, including digital platforms and assistance by election officials at the local level.
Citizens have been encouraged to avail these facilities and complete the process without delay. With only a few hours left for the deadline to end, the Election Commission has once again appealed to all eligible voters, especially first-time voters and those who have recently changed their residence, to act quickly.
