Tamil Nadu News: In Tirupattur district of Tamil Nadu, a large number of child marriages took place due to love affairs started through social media, due to which hundreds of minor girls became pregnant. In this matter, the police have registered a case against 300 youth and this shocking revelation has come to light in the investigation.
Hundreds of child marriages have been recorded in Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Natrumpalli and Tirupattur taluks of Tirupattur district during the year 2025. Investigation by officials has revealed that most of these marriages were the result of love relationships developed through social media like Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, while many couples have also got married outside the state.
Pregnancy cases increase in hospitals due to child marriage
The district administration tried to stop many child marriages, but despite this, cases of love marriage and child marriage continued to come to light. The effect of this was that the cases of pregnancy and delivery of minor girls started increasing rapidly in the government hospitals of the district.
Case registered against parents and youth
In view of this shocking situation, the police have registered a case against the parents and the youth concerned in such cases. The District Collector has given strict instructions to the officials that if any information about child marriage is received in future, strict legal action should be taken immediately. This case once again raises the question that how the increasing influence of social media and lack of social awareness is putting the future of children in danger.
