Now former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has openly expressed his views on the ongoing cricket tension between India and Bangladesh. He has clearly said that such big decisions should not be taken due to emotions, because it can affect Bangladesh cricket for the next 10 years.
Increasing tension regarding T20 World Cup
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in confusion regarding the T20 World Cup 2026 starting in India from February. Bangladesh has refused to come to India citing security reasons. The board has demanded ICC to co-host its matches in Sri Lanka. This entire controversy deepened when Bangladesh’s fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released by the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. In Bangladesh, this decision is being linked to the instructions of BCCI.
Tamim Iqbal’s advice to exercise patience
On this entire matter, Tamim Iqbal while talking to Cricbuzz said that the current situation is very delicate. At such a time no decision should be taken in haste. He said, “If all parties talk among themselves, many problems can be solved.” Tamim also said that Bangladesh Cricket Board will have to think about what is its position in world cricket and in which direction to take the team in future. According to him, decisions should be taken on the basis of what is right for Bangladesh cricket and the players in the long run.
Tamim’s opinion to BCB
The former captain clearly said that BCB should work like an independent organization. He agreed that the role of the government is important and talks with it are necessary, but the final decision should be taken by the board only. Tamim said, “Public opinion is driven by emotions, but if every decision is taken on that basis, then it becomes difficult to run such a big institution.”
Tamim Iqbal warned that any decision taken today can affect Bangladesh cricket for the next 10 years. Therefore, after thinking carefully, rising above emotions, only that decision should be taken which is in the interest of cricket and players of the country. After this statement, it is clear that this ongoing dispute on India-Bangladesh cricket relations is not limited to the current tournament only, but its impact can be seen for years to come.
