Important steps have been taken to make TB (tuberculosis) investigations easier, faster and cheaper in the country. In fact, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the Swadesi Kit ‘Quantiplus MTB Fast Detection Kit’ created by Telangana company Huel Lifestyle. The specialty of this kit is that 96 samples can be tested in a very short time. The cost of investigation from this kit can also be reduced by about 20 %. This kit is the first open system RT-PCR test to detect lung TB, which will help improve TB investigation in the country.
This kit will bring revolution in TB investigation
TB is an infectious disease that affects the lungs the most. It is very important to find this disease quickly and accurately, so that the patient’s treatment can start on time and prevent the disease from spreading. If the patient of TB does not take treatment on time, then he can also become a threat to the people around him. In such a situation, it is very important to make TB testing easier and cheaper.
How special is the new kit?
The biggest feature of this new kit of Huel Lifesto is that it can be used with any normal PCR machine. There is no need for any special or expensive platform for this. Laboratories across the country will be able to check TB fast using this kit. This kit can be easily installed in government hospitals and testing centers, which will increase the speed of TB check manifold. Also, it will save expenses on expensive machines.
What will be the benefit of the new kit?
Dr. Nivedita Gupta, head of the communicable disease division of ICMR, said that this new kit has been made by upgrading existing equipment such as Trunate and Pathodite. With this, the nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) can be easily done on a small level. This means that now in small investigation centers, an accurate investigation of TB will be done. This kit can also detect not only normal TB, but also a TB resistant to the drug (which is not a TB that does not affect the drugs).
The tongue’s swab will also be investigated
ICMR has approved another new technology of Huel Lifestyle, named ‘UNAMP MTB Nucleic Acid Test Card’. This is a kit that can check TB with the tongue swab (saliva) instead of spit. This is especially beneficial for children and the elderly, as it is often difficult to take spit samples. Spitting samples have to undergo complex procedures to examine TB in a traditional way, but this new kit will make the investigation process easier and faster.
