There are less than two weeks left for the T20 World Cup 2026. The first match will be played on 7 February and the final of the tournament will be held on 8 March. Most of the teams including India, England, Pakistan and South Africa have declared their squads. In fact, according to the guidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC), all the teams can make necessary changes in their squads till January 31.

For example, South Africa had given chance to Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickleton in place of injured Tony de Jorzi and Donovan Ferreira. At present, some players in Team India are struggling with poor form and to prepare a better playing eleven combination, it is possible that the selection committee may make changes in the Indian team before January 31. Know here which 3 major changes can happen in the Indian team before the deadline date.

These 3 players may be out

The first name among these could be that of Washington Sundar, who was injured while bowling during the Vadodara ODI match against New Zealand. After that he had to miss the T20 series. Sundar is a part of the T20 World Cup squad, but is not fully fit yet. According to reports, it may take at least 2 weeks for him to become completely fit. Even if he becomes physically fit, questions will remain over his game fitness. In such a situation, there is a possibility that Sundar may be dropped from the World Cup squad.

Tilak Verma is also not completely fit yet. He got injured while playing for Hyderabad in Vijay Hazare Trophy. There are speculations that he may join Team India in Mumbai on 3 February. BCCI had issued a statement saying that Tilak is better than before and is recovering quickly, but it may take a little more time for him to become fully fit. In such a situation, his being out of the World Cup squad is not completely averted.

Sanju Samson is also under question, who has been able to score only 16 runs in three innings as an opener in the T20 series against New Zealand. Samson’s poor form may also affect Abhishek Sharma, who has been continuously giving bright starts to Team India. Whereas if Tilak Verma is fit, then in-form batsman Ishan Kishan will have to sit out. If Samson is not able to do well in the remaining 2 matches against New Zealand, then it would not be wrong to consider Ishan Kishan as an option as an opener batsman. Team India would definitely like to take advantage of his good rhythm.
