After about one and a half months, the Women’s ODI Cup (Womens ODI World Cup 2025) is going to start. The tournament will run till 30 September-2 November, which India and Sri Lanka will be hosting together. The Indian team has so far reached the final of the ODI World Cup 2 times, but both times they had to face defeat. Now former captain of Team India Mithali Raj has given India the Gurumantra to wave India in the World Cup for the first time.
Team India gets Gurmantra
During the talks with ICC Digital, Mithali Raj said that Team India will have to take full advantage of small occasions in big matches. He says that the ability to convert small occasions into victory will create a big difference in the World Cup teams.
Mithali Raj said, “Other teams try to bring the match to the match by redeeming these small occasions. The Indian team will also have to capitalize on the same opportunities.”
2 World Cup final experience
Mithali Raj has the experience of playing 2 ODI World Cup final as captain. Under his captaincy, Team India played the finals of 2005 and 2017. Remembering 2005, the Indian team, which performed amazing throughout the tournament, had to face a big defeat of 98 runs against Australia in the final. When the turn of 2017 came, Team India had come very close to victory this time, but England defeated him by 9 runs and won the title.
On the possibility of winning the World Cup, Mithali Raj said, “If India becomes a champion then it will be a big and special moment. Every player who represents India wants to win the World Cup and no one has been able to do so till now. We came close to winning the trophy 2 times, but really he could not fulfill his dream of winning the trophy.”
