Before the knockout stage of the Women’s World Cup, Pratika Raval was out of the tournament due to injury. Now Shefali Verma has got a chance in Team India as her replacement. The Technical Committee of the World Cup has approved the demand to bring Shefali Verma in Team India in place of Pratika Raval. Let us tell you that India’s semi-final match is going to be played against Australia on 30th October.
Pratika Rawal was in amazing form, so it will not be easy for Shefali Verma to compensate her. Actually, while fielding in the match against Bangladesh, Pratika’s foot slipped and due to the twist of her foot, she got injured in her knee and ankle. For this reason she neither came back to fielding nor to bat. In her place, Amanjot Kaur opened the innings with Smriti Mandhana in the match against Bangladesh. However, the match could not be completed due to rain.
Before getting injured, Pratika had scored 308 runs in 7 innings of the World Cup at an average of more than 51. On the other hand, Shefali Verma could not make it to the World Cup squad due to poor form. Now in the semi-finals, he will have a chance to stake his claim to return to the team by playing big innings.
Shefali got her form back
While playing for India A before the World Cup, Shefali Verma played an inning of 70 runs in 49 balls against New Zealand. Shefali is also the highest run-scorer in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. In this tournament, he has scored 341 runs at an average of 56.83 and he has batted at a strike rate of 182.
