Team India’s batting coach told who will bat in place of Shubman Gill

India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has given an update on the recovery of captain Shubman Gill ahead of the second Test against South Africa starting on Saturday in Guwahati. Kotak said that Gill is recovering fast.

Kotak said, “He is definitely recovering. I met him yesterday. The physio and doctors have to decide whether even if he makes a full recovery, there is a possibility of the cramps recurring during the match or not. It is very important. If there is any doubt, I am sure he will be rested for one more game. Shubman will be missed by the team as a player and captain.”

He said, “The Indian team has depth. If Gill does not play in the second Test, we have good players to take his place. Maybe the one playing in Gill’s place will score a century in Guwahati.”

The batting coach indicated that if Gill does not play in the second Test, Dhruv Jurel can bat at number four in his place.

Shubman Gill suffered neck cramps while batting in the first innings of the Kolkata Test. Because of this, he had to retire and be admitted to the hospital due to heart attack.

The test played in Guwahati is very important for the Indian team. The test played in Kolkata was low scoring. The Indian team could not achieve the target of 124 and was reduced to 93 runs in the second innings. South Africa won the Test in India after 15 years. If the Indian team is not successful in winning the next Test, then it will lose the Test series against South Africa at home after 25 years. However, the Indian team has the strength to make a comeback and can draw the series by winning the second test.
