Tech Giant Microsoft is Going to Shut Down Its Operations in Pakistan after 25 years

Microsoft News: Legendary tech company Microsoft has given a big blow to Pakistan. The company has decided to stop its operation in Pakistan after 25 years. The company started working in Pakistan in the year 2000. Microsoft’s full corporate office has ever been in Pakistan, but Microsoft has a strong presence in Pakistan’s enterprises, education and government sectors.

Microsoft works in Pakistan

In the field of education, the company has partnered with institutions like Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Punjab Group of College (PGC) to provide training of digital skills and remote learning through platforms like Microsoft Teams. In the government sector, Microsoft has provided technology solutions to more than 200 Higher Education Institutions. Apart from this, Microsoft has also been involved in initiatives like building training centers and offering online courses.

Why did the company take a big decision?

Jawad Rahman, former Country Manager of Microsoft Pakistan, says that this decision of the company is related to business. Jawad, who was associated with the company from 2000 to 2007, says that this decision of the company indicates that big companies are finding difficulties in working in the current environment of Pakistan.

Former President Arif Alvi expressed concern

Former President Arif Alvi also described this decision of the company as worrying for the future of Pakistan. He claimed that due to political instability, economic instability, repeated change of government, the deteriorating law and order, unstable currency and complex trade policies, companies are finding it difficult to work in Pakistan.

Here, according to Theregister.com, a Microsoft spokesperson says that the company is making changes in its operating model in Pakistan. However, he has also informed about the effect of this change on the company’s services and customer agreement.
