The death toll in the bus accident in Chevella mandal of Rangareddy district of Telangana has increased to 20. The tipper driver has also died in this horrific road accident, while dozens of passengers are said to be injured. The tragedy occurred on the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway near Mirjaguda in Chevella mandal when an RTC bus from Tandoor depot collided head-on with a tipper truck laden with ballast.
The collision was so severe that the ballast loaded on the tipper fell inside the bus and many passengers got buried under it. The driver of the tipper died on the spot. According to the information received, there were more than 70 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident.
The injured were admitted to the hospital.
After the collision, there was chaos in the bus and many passengers suffered serious injuries. Local people and police immediately started rescue operations and the injured were evacuated to Chevella Government Hospital, where the injured are undergoing treatment. The police reached the spot and started investigating the matter.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed deep grief over this incident and has immediately issued necessary guidelines to the officials. He has clearly said that the relief and rescue work on the spot should be expedited at any cost and the injured should be provided the best treatment.
CM gave instructions to officials
According to the statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Revanth Reddy has given direct instructions to the Telangana Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) that every person injured in the accident should be shifted to hospitals in Hyderabad with immediate effect. He has also asked to ensure that there is no shortage in the treatment of the injured and they are provided with the best medical facilities.
The CM has instructed the officials to keep the officials informed about the situation at every level and to give continuous updates about the accident. Apart from this, he has also asked the ministers near the incident site to immediately reach there and take stock of the situation and provide all possible help to the administration. CM Reddy has directed the Collector of Rangareddy District to give further impetus to the rescue and relief operations, so that the affected people can get immediate and effective assistance.
PM Modi announced assistance amount
Prime Minister Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. PMO posted on X that the loss of life and property in the accident in Rangareddy district of Telangana is extremely sad. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families in this difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
