An encounter has started between Indian security forces and terrorists in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. During the search operation of the Indian Army in the remote forest area of Singhpur district, the terrorists started firing on the security forces, after which the security forces also started retaliating.
There is a possibility of hiding of 2 to 3 terrorists
Army officials said that the firing started in the afternoon during a cordon and search operation in Sonnar village near Mandral-Singhura in Chatru area. Additional forces have been sent to the area. Security sources say that there is a possibility of 2 to 3 terrorists hiding in the area. It is being told that these terrorists may be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed organization and they got trapped in the area during the joint operation.

After the presence of terrorists was detected, the entire area has been surrounded by security forces so that the terrorists do not succeed in escaping. According to sources, it is believed that a group of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists are trapped in the area. However, official confirmation regarding the identity of the terrorists is still awaited. Security agencies said the situation is being closely monitored and more information will be shared as the operation progresses.
Army monitoring with drones and helicopters
Police and army personnel are moving forward with caution. Sounds of heavy firing are being heard during the encounter. The terrorists associated with Jaish are suspected to have AK-47 rifles, grenades and other weapons. Security forces have increased surveillance of the area with the help of drones and helicopters. Along with this, the security forces have issued an alert in the nearby villages. Kishtwar administration has made tight security arrangements.
