A young ‘hijab wali’ leader of AIMIM has become councilor from ward number 30 of Thane Municipal Corporation. His name is Sahar Sheikh. The rift between Sahar Sheikh’s father Yunus Sheikh and Sharad Pawar group leader Jitendra Awhad is not hidden from anyone in Thane. On his daughter’s victory, Younus Shaikh said that Allah has made the ‘hijab wali’ daughter famous all over India. The video of both father and daughter is viral.
‘Don’t play with a girl’s future’
In his speech, Yunus Shaikh warned Jitendra Awhad and said, “I am just giving a warning. Never play with the future of any girl in the future. Otherwise, how does our community come together and take down wickets, haven’t you seen? Be it Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian, a daughter is everyone’s daughter.”
‘You have shattered the pride of those people’
After the victory, Sahar Shaikh said, “You have shattered the pride of those people who think that we are dependent on taluk (identity). They forgot that we are dependent only on Allah and not on anyone’s father. The number 30 panel has proved this. I am thankful to all of you, the way you all have made all the candidates of AIMIM party win.”
Had earlier sought ticket from Sharad Pawar group
Yunus Sheikh had asked for a ticket for his daughter from Sharad Pawar group before the elections. Later things were resolved with AIMIM and Sahar Shaikh won. There are a total of 122 seats in Thane Municipal Corporation. Here Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM has won five seats. Sahar Sheikh is active on social media. He has more than 3 lakh 40 thousand followers on Instagram.
In Thane, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has won maximum 75 seats. BJP is at second place here and has got a total of 28 seats. Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 9 seats, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction won 1, Sharad Pawar’s faction won 12 seats.
