‘The air inside the houses of Delhi is also as harmful as it is, shocking revelations in the report

Amidst the possibility of another round of the first mist of the winter season in Delhi, fungal particles in the air inside the houses have found 12 times more than the safety limit of WHO, causing skin allergies, difficulty in breathing. This has been revealed in the report of a research.

Research conducted by Satyavati College of Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia and South Dakota State University in America has also revealed that the level of bacteria was recorded 10 times more than the World Health Organization (WHO) security limit.

What happened in research,

The study published in the Frontiers in Public Health, 2025 states that the air inside the house in many parts of Delhi becomes almost as harmful as the fog in many parts of Delhi. The study also found that most of the fungal particles were smaller than 2.5 microns, which could cause permanent damage to the respiratory system by entering the lungs.

A clear seasonal pattern was seen in it. The level of fungus increased continuously from winter and between September to November, i.e. in Delhi, it reached the highest level of about 6,050 cfu meters in the first season just before the mist.

What physical problems people complained,

According to the study, the level of bacteria increased from winter to summer, which was at its peak in August and then decreased in winter. About 33 percent of residents repeatedly headed, 23 percent complained of eye irritation, 22 percent experienced cough and shortness of breathing and suffered 18 percent sneezing and allergic rhinitis (also known as hell-divers). Researchers said that about 15 percent complained of skin irritation and itching.

He said, ‘Children and youth have emerged as the most unsafe groups. The study found that about 28 percent of children under the age of 12 and 25 percent of the age of 18 to 30 years complained of symptoms related to shortness of breath, cough or allergy.

What was the conclusion of research,

He said that the rate of irritation in the eyes and skin was also found in women, which is about 60 percent of all the complaints related to the skin and eyes. This is probably because they stay indoors for a long time. Research concluded that pollution inside the house, especially the pollution generated from fungal bioerosol, shows an invisible but large health risk in the ongoing air quality crisis in Delhi.
