The Israeli Navy on Wednesday stopped the Global Sumud Flotilla, who was going to help Gaza Strip, ended its latest attempt to break Israel’s block on the war-hit Palestinian region. This military campaign was announced by both the Ministry of Foreign Foreign and Israel.
The floatla consisted of about 45 ships, including political personalities and activists, including Swedish climate activist Gita Thangberg. The floatla left Spain last month and its goal was to break the block of Israel to Gaza, where according to the United Nations, a situation of famine has been created.
Israeli action on floatilla
“According to Gaza Time at 8:30 pm (1730 GMT) several ships such as Alma, Sirius and Adara were illegally stopped and boarded the international water by Israeli forces in international water,” floatla said. In addition, communication contacts of live streams and many other ships were lost.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry posted on X (East Twitter) that “several ships have been safely stopped and passengers are being taken to the port of Israel”. The ministry also said that “Gita and his companions are safe and healthy.” Earlier, the Israeli Navy had warned Flatila not to enter the block water.
Spain and Italy, who had sent naval security forces, also asked ships not to enter the prohibition area declared by Israel near Gaza.
After stopping in Tunisia for 10 days, floatilla, where the organizers reported two drone attacks, resumed their journey on 15 September. During this, the main ship Alma faced the “aggressively surrounded by the Israeli warship,” and other ship Sirius similar to “oppressing” activities.
Floatla had already said that he would continue his mission to reach Gaza, facing Israel’s threats and military terror. He wrote on X that he would “be cautious because we are entering the same area where the first floatla was stopped or attacked.”
International response and warning
Turkish Foreign Minister called it “a serious violation of terrorism and serious violation of international law”. South Africa appealed to ensure the safety of all the ashasts. Italy and Greece demanded a guarantee of safe operation from Israel. Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that flatilla is not a threat. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni said that this initiative indicates danger and irresponsibility and can affect the new Gaza peace proposal of America.
