Nandyal Bus Accident: In Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh, in the early hours of Thursday, a private bus went out of control and collided with a container truck coming from the front and a massive fire occurred. According to the police, at least three people died and many others were injured in this accident. The accident occurred near Shirivellametta village (Shirivela mandal) at around 2 pm. Nandyal district police said that along with the driver of both the bus and the truck, the cleaner of the truck also burnt to death in the fire. Identification of the dead has not been possible due to their burning.
According to the police, this bus of ARBCVR Private Travels was going from Nellore to Hyderabad, in which 36 passengers were on board. Then suddenly one of the tires of the bus burst and the driver lost control. The bus crossed the road divider and collided head-on with a container truck coming from the front.
Panic among passengers
After the collision, a massive fire broke out and within minutes both the vehicles were engulfed in flames. The fire was so intense that fear spread among the passengers inside the bus. Police said that both the main door and emergency exit of the bus failed to open, due to which many passengers were not able to escape first.
Many passengers were saved due to the bravery of the DCM driver.
Police said that the driver of a DCM vehicle was passing by at the time of the accident. He immediately stopped his car and broke the windows of the bus and helped the passengers out. Many passengers were successful in saving their lives by jumping from the windows.
Three people died tragically, many injured
However, the bus driver, truck driver and truck cleaner got trapped inside the bus and died in the fire. More than 10 passengers suffered serious burn injuries, while some passengers also got injured due to jumping from the bus and stampede. All the injured were taken to Nandyal Government General Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared their condition stable. The fire started from the bus and spread to the container truck and both the vehicles were completely burnt. The luggage and personal belongings of the passengers were also completely destroyed.
Relief and rescue operations underway, traffic badly affected
The police team and traffic personnel reached the spot as soon as the information was received and started relief and rescue operations. Due to the accident, traffic on that route was disrupted for several hours and there was a huge traffic jam. Later the route was made normal again by removing the damaged vehicles. The police officer said that a case has been registered regarding this incident and investigation has been started. Statements of the injured passengers are being taken to gather accurate information about the causes and events of the accident. He said that due to the timely help of the DCM driver, more lives were saved.
