The cat’s name of a woman named Dominique, living in Hérault area of France, is Remi. Remy is a very curious and adventurous cat. He had the habit of visiting nearby houses. She used to go inside by jumping the fence of the neighbor’s house. Sometimes she would leave her paw marks on the plaster there, and sometimes she would urinate on the quilt. She would also go to the garden and dig soil. Well, the neighbor got upset and complained.
Court imposed fine of Rs 1 lakh on complaint
In January, the court agreed with the neighbor and said Remy’s mistress, Dominique, would have to pay a fine of 1,250 euros. Apart from this, if Remy again jumps the fence and goes to the neighbor’s house, he will have to pay even more fine. When Dominic received this news, she became very sad. He said, “When I came to know about this decision, it felt as if someone had hit me hard on the head.”
Now Remi lives at home
Now Dominic has started keeping Remy locked in the house. But Remy loved traveling outside. Now she lives at home, her weight has increased and she has also become irritable. Dominic says, “Now it’s like he’s in jail. I can’t even leave him in my garden. I’m afraid he might jump the fence again.”
Cat owner expressed grief over the court’s decision
70 year old Dominic says that the neighbor could not even prove that Remy had actually done this. There were many other cats nearby, some even strays. But the court did not listen to him. Now the matter has increased further. In December, Dominique is called to court again because Remy is caught jumping the fence again. This time, if the decision goes against him, he may have to pay a fine of 2,000 Euros and a fine of 150 Euros per day.
