The Board of Control for Cricket in India is the richest cricket board in the world, which makes a big money throughout the year. The main sources of the earnings of a cricket board are media rights, sponsorship deal, sales of tickets. Take the example of BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), so they also earn crores from franchise leagues like IPL and PSL. The total assets of BCCI are ₹ 18,760 crore, but Pakistan’s Cricket Board looks like a beggar in front of him. Know how much difference is there in the net worth of both.

About 60 percent of the annual income of BCCI comes from IPL alone, which is the world’s richest cricket league. Because of this, BCCI’s net worth is much higher than other cricket boards in the world. BCCI earns thousands of crores every year from the Indian Premier League broadcasting rights, sponsorships and tickets. It has auctioned the TV and digital rights of the IPL season (2023-27) for ₹ 39,775 crore ($ 5.10 billion).

The BCCI also earns from a favorable Revenue-Sharing model with international tours and ICC. The strong brand appearance of the Indian Board attracts many sponsorships and endorsements, which makes the financial position of the Board of Control for Cricket in India even stronger.

Pakistan Cricket Board has less net worth than Indian board

The projected net worth of Pakistan Cricket Board is just ₹ 458 crore ($ 55 million). The main source of Pakistan Board’s earnings is Pakistan Super League (PSL), but its earnings are much lower than the IPL.

PCB has to depend on the part given by the ICC (International Cricket Council) and ACC (Asian Cricket Council) for its financial needs. This dependence also shows Pakistan’s economic instability, which affects the functioning of the board.

The effect of this financial inequality can also be seen clearly on the salary of the players. While Indian players get the highest salary in the world, even the top players of PSL are not able to earn as much as the average IPL players.

For example, in PSL, a big player like Babar Azam gets around ₹ 1.95 crore ($ 2,20,000), while an anonymous Indian player in IPL also earns much more than this. This huge difference shows the economic strength and influence of the Cricket Board of India and Pakistan.
