He studied at Aitchison College, Lahore. He had a keen interest in sports, especially cricket and polo. During his reign, the Patiala state was considered economically strong.

According to the report of Times of India, the personal life of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was also much discussed. According to records, he had 10 official queens. Apart from this, there were about 350 female companions in his harem, who were also called queens. In total, he is said to have had 88 children, of whom 52 survived to adulthood.

In this, the most discussed rule is under which the names of queens were written on 360 lanterns every night. He used to spend the night with the queen of the same name whose lantern was extinguished first thing in the morning. This method is said to be part of the arrangement of his personal life.

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was also famous for his luxury lifestyle. He had 44 Rolls Royce cars. He was fond of expensive jewellery. In 1928, she had a special necklace made from the French jewelery company Cartier. The famous De Beers Diamond of 234 carats was studded in it. It was one of the most popular royal jewelery of that time.
There are many stories about their food also. It is said that he used to eat several dozen quails at a time. Although there is limited confirmation of these claims, they reflect the picture of his royal life.

Bhupinder Singh is also known for promoting sports. He built a cricket ground and polo ground in Chail, which is counted among the highest cricket grounds in the world. His polo team ‘Patiala Tigers’ was considered strong in that era.
Bhupinder Singh was known not only for royal style but also for sports, especially cricket. He was the captain of the Indian cricket team and led the team on the tour of England in 1911. According to Marylebone Cricket Club records, he played 27 first-class matches between 1915 and 1937. He made important contributions to strengthening domestic cricket and played an important role in starting the Ranji Trophy in the name of his close friend Sahib Ranjit Singh.
