North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has indicated that the country will continue the process of developing missiles in the next five years. He has instructed arms factories to speed up production to meet the increasing demand.
According to the report of North Korea’s government news agency KCNA, Kim Jong Un said this on Friday (December 26, 2025) during a visit to major weapons manufacturing units with senior officials in the last quarter of 2025. He said that the missile and ammunition production sector is extremely important for strengthening military deterrence.
He ordered the production centers to meet the potential operational needs of the country’s missile and artillery forces. Kim said that to meet military needs, it is necessary to further increase the total production capacity and under this, instructions have also been given for the construction of new ammunition factories.
Kim approved the draft documents
According to the report, Kim Jong Un has approved draft documents related to the modernization of the country’s major arms manufacturing enterprises, which will be presented at an important Party Congress to be held in early 2026. In this Congress, North Korea’s development plan for the next five years will be decided.
The report came a day after it was revealed that Kim Jong Un had supervised the construction of an 8,700-tonne nuclear-powered submarine along with his daughter, who is considered a possible successor. Apart from this, information was also given about the test launch of long range surface-to-air missiles.
