Malayalam actress Suma Jayaram has shared her bad experience. She told that when she was a minor, a director tried to harass her.

According to the news of Indian Express, in a recent interview, Suma told that in the 90s, if actors were not ready to compromise, then opportunities used to go away from them. He told how his roles were often reduced or changed without any discussion.

Suma told that this used to happen even in those films which were directed by veterans of the industry. She said, “When the scenes became long, they were shortened. So whatever acting I did was limited to only two scenes. In this way I was limited to small roles.”

‘If you don’t compromise, you will miss opportunities’

She told that at one point the industry had become unsafe for actresses. He said, ‘At that time it was not like today. Now there is #MeToo and the industry has also changed a lot. But it was not like that in those days. You had to make a lot of sacrifices. If you don’t compromise, opportunities will slip away from you. No one said anything because everyone has a family. Even today, work gets done with whoever speaks.

The actress told that when she was a minor, she had a scary experience. The actress said, ‘I once went for a shoot with a very popular director. My mother was with me. The shoot was scheduled for a week. After wrapping up the morning shoot, I came to my room in the evening. Around 10 o’clock the famous director came outside my room and started knocking on the door. When we looked through the window, it was him. He was completely drunk. I was 16-17 years old. I was scared. After knocking on the door for a while the director left. Next day at the shooting location we heard him abusing. It is experiences like these that force people to remain silent.
