A serious incident occurred on 16 September 2023 at the Temeside Hospital in Greater Manchester, Britain, in which 44 -year -old consultant anesthetic Dr. Suhail Anjum alleged that he tried to have sex with a nurse in another operating theater, leaving the patient in anesthesia during gall bladder surgery. The incident was seen and reported by one of his colleague nurses NT, who found both in an objectionable position.
According to the BBC report, Dr. Anjum returned to complete the operation after about eight minutes. He admitted that this could have threatened the patient’s life, although there was no loss. He described personal troubles such as his daughter’s premature birth and marital tension as the reason behind this incident.
Dr. Suhail Anjum left the hospital in February 2024
According to the news website The Independent, Dr. Suhail Anjum told the Medical Property Tribunal Service (MPTS) that he left the Temeside Hospital in February 2024 and has returned to Pakistan since then. However, he expressed his desire to resume his medical career in Britain and assured that it was a one -time mistake and will not happen again.

Giving evidence, Dr. Anjum said, “It was quite shameful. I was my fault. I disappointed not only my patient and myself, but also my colleagues.” He said that the nurse NT was also put in troubles due to this incident.
Dr. Anjum said that this incident took place in a tense time for his family. In January 2023, his daughter was born prematurely, which was very low. He said, “My wife’s delivery was very difficult and stressful. At that time we could not connect with each other emotionally.” He apologized to all the people concerned and said, “I want a chance to rectify this mistake.”
