Saira Shah Haleem, a former student of Lawrence School Lovedale, Ooty, shared her memories of the school days of Akshaye Khanna, who was her senior. She wrote on
He further wrote, “One day there was a lot of excitement in the corridors of Lawrence School, Lovedale. There was talk that Vinod Khanna’s son was taking admission in class 11 and we were all excited to know who he was or what he looked like.” He further said, “For the next two years, we kept seeing him every day, sometimes passing by us, sometimes while roaming around the campus, sometimes while coming out of the canteen. Met him, and seriously, he was the school crush!

Describing TAJ Akshay, Saira said that he was completely different from the usual famous senior students, she wrote, “Akshay was not the noisy captain of the football team, he was a quiet storm. He was a man of few words and a serious nature and he only created a stir in the hearts of his schoolmates.”
He further wrote, “Akshay was a mystery man. He never went to school social events, never became part of big groups, he just liked to be quiet, sipping tea on the lawn or strolling alone in the school campus.” He further added, “Despite not being a ‘girl’s favorite’ in the traditional sense, he was the most popular senior on campus.” He also recalled that “I remember his father Vinod Khanna and stepmother would often visit him.”

Looking back, Saira admitted that her entry into films was almost inevitable, writing, “After a long time, I am not surprised that she stepped into films, some films worked, some did not, but one thing remained constant, she was always quiet and mysterious, exactly the way she is now. Glad she is getting her recognition.”
