Stock market today: The stock market started today weak amidst the threat of US President Donald Trump to increase tariffs on India. In early trade, the BSE Sensex fell 351.6 points to Rs 80,665.8, while NSE Nifty was seen trading at Rs 24,619.2. During the morning trading, 20 of 30 Sensex companies were seen trading in red mark.
These include top gainers and losquers
The Indian stock market remained under pressure during early trade. Companies like BEL, Adani Ports, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Reliance and Sun Pharma were the biggest losses, whose shares fell by 1.37 percent. At the same time, the list of top gainers included Axis Bank, SBI, UltraTech Cement, Maruti Suzuki India and Bharti Airtel, whose stocks increased by 0.67 percent. BSE Smallcap 0.07 percent and BSE midcap were seen trading with a decline of 0.49 percent.
Talking about the sector, Nifty IT, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Oil & Gas were trading in red mark with a decline of up to 0.33 percent. On the other hand, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Metal, Nifty Media and Nifty Pharma were seen trading in green mark with an increase of up to 0.30 percent.
Bazaar shocked with trump threats
Vijaykumar, Chief Investment Strategist VK Vijaykumar, Chief Investment Strategist of Geojit Investments Limited, said, “President Trump’s new tweet that” I will increase India’s tariff on the purchase of oil from Russia “is a big threat”. If he remains adamant on his point, then there will be more tension in Indo-US relations and it can have a bad effect on India’s exports to America than ever before. It will also affect India’s GDP growth and corporate income in FY 26. At present, it cannot be underestimated on the market trading on high valuation. ”
Vijaykumar further said, “If the US tariff is further increased on India, then the market will give a negative response and will go below the Nifty’s 24500 support level. Investors are waiting for further developments. Some money can also be considered to be put in fixed income.”
