In a program organized in Silchar, Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a scathing attack on the Congress party. He said that amid the global tension and war-like situation, the central government is trying its best to minimize its impact on the countrymen, but even in this situation, Congress is trying to spread panic in the country and defame the government. The Prime Minister said that the country’s rapid progress is not being liked by some foreign powers and the Congress.

The Prime Minister said that in the current international circumstances, the government’s entire focus is on ensuring that common citizens face minimum difficulties. He alleged that even in such a serious situation, Congress has failed to play the role of responsible opposition and is trying to create panic in the country.
‘Congress is becoming a puppet in the hands of foreign powers’
PM Modi said that some powers of the world are not able to digest the rapid progress of India and Congress is fast becoming a puppet in the hands of those powers. He alleged that Congress leaders are continuously running propaganda to defame the country.
‘Congress is continuously losing elections’
The Prime Minister said that every state of the country is teaching a lesson to the Congress and the party is continuously losing elections. He sarcastically said that in the near future, Congress is going to complete its ‘century’ of defeat.
Emphasis on making Barak Valley a logistics and trade hub
The Prime Minister said that Barak Valley is being developed as a major logistics and trade hub for the North-East through various development projects related to roads, railways and education. This will create many employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth of the area.
‘Congress ignored the North-East for decades’
PM Modi alleged that for several decades after independence, Congress governments kept the North-East away from Delhi and the mainstream of the country. He said that BJP’s double engine government has connected North-East to the mainstream of development and today this region has become the center of India’s ‘Act East’ policy.
BJP government’s efforts in the development of Barak Valley
The Prime Minister said that just as Congress ignored the North-East, Barak Valley was also neglected for a long time. He said that the BJP government is continuously doing development work to change this situation.
Policy to consider border villages as ‘first village’
He said that BJP’s mantra is that the areas which are left behind in the race of development should be given priority. While the Congress governments considered the border areas as the last villages of the country, the BJP government considers them as the first villages of the country. Under this thinking, the next phase of Vibrant Village Program has been started from Cachar district.
Schemes for farmers and tea garden workers
PM Modi said that the Assam government has taken a historic step by giving land rights to thousands of families associated with tea gardens. He also informed that recently the next installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been released, due to which farmers are getting financial help.
Bhoomipujan of Shillong-Silchar High Speed Corridor
The Prime Minister said that the foundation stone of Shillong-Silchar High Speed Corridor, to be built at a cost of about Rs 24 thousand crore, has been performed. He said that this will be the first access controlled high speed corridor of the North-East and this will end the decades-long wait of the people of the region.
‘Congress kept the youth of Assam entangled in violence’
The Prime Minister alleged that Congress kept the youth of Assam entangled in the cycle of violence and terrorism for a long time and adopted the policy of ‘divide and rule’. He said that today a new sky of opportunities is opening before the youth of Assam.
