Guru Nanak Dev Ji Motivational Stories: The founder and first Guru of Sikhism was Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Today we are going to tell you an interesting story related to him, which will change the way you think and understand.

Once upon a time, when a great Guru Nanak Dev Ji reached a village, after reaching there he saw that the atmosphere of the village was calm.

Every person in the village was dejected due to some problem or the other. Someone was complaining about poverty to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, someone was under stress regarding his family relationships, someone was facing the problem of illness and someone was calling his life worthless due to some shortcoming or the other.

All the people of the village found their life very sad.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was listening to everyone’s problems and smiled peacefully, because he was not seeing problems in anyone’s life, but negative mindset. He told the villagers that today we will make all of you do an exercise. Everyone should write down the biggest problem of their life on paper and bring it to me.

All the people of the village were surprised by his words but they accepted Nanak Saheb’s words.
After some time, more than a hundred papers were collected with him. On every paper, things related to sorrow, pain, fear, insult, financial problems, illness, loneliness, family problems and inertia of mind were written.

Now Guru Nanak said,
Everyone, put your papers in this room. Then come inside, leave your slip and read the slips of others.

All the villagers went inside the room.
He started reading others’ papers.

The first person, who was struggling with the problem of debt and considered it the biggest problem, was quite shocked when he read about the death of the other’s son, terminal illness and domestic violence. He felt that my problem was much smaller than this.

Another man, who was considering the loss in his business as the biggest defeat in life, was heartbroken when he learned that a family was struggling without food and clothing for the last three years.

One by one everyone read each other’s sorrows and everyone’s eyes were opened. Everyone felt that, no matter how much difficulty God had given them on their part, it was less in comparison to others.

At last Guru Nanak Dev Ji said-
There is no one in the world who does not have sorrow, but you consider your worries big because you are not aware of the sorrows in the lives of other people. The suffering of others is much less than your suffering.

That day the villagers learned-
The problems are not big, just a difference of perspective.
