The thing to note is that no date has been changed for taxpayers whose account audit comes under the purview of audit. Such taxpayers will have to fill their tax audit report by 30 September 2025 and ITR by 31 October 2025.
Why did ITR fileing delay this year in the process?
The process of filing ITR starts every year from 1 April. But this year the government delayed ITR forms and their online facilities. Some structural and technical changes have been made in the forms, which took time to prepare the system. For this reason, the government has extended the date.
TDS credit also received extension due to delay in coming
The government said that TDS Statements will be filed by 31 May 2025 and their credit will be seen in early June. In such a situation, without extensions, taxpayers do not have the right time to fill ITR. That is why a new deadline of 15 September 2025 is given.
late filing or correction of mistake is also fixed
If you miss the last date of 15 September 2025, then you can fill the billet ITR by 31 December 2025. But this can be imposed a penalty of up to Rs 5,000. Apart from this, if you have filled the ITR first and now have to improve it, then the Revise ITR can also be filed by 31 December 2025. If you want more time, then you can fill the ITR (ITR-U) updated by 31 March 2026, but this option comes with some conditions.
