Road Accident Treatment Scheme: Every year about 5 lakh road accidents occur in the country and about 1.8 lakh people lose their lives. A large number of deaths also occur because the injured do not get timely treatment. The biggest problem after the accident is money. Hospitals ask for the amount before starting the treatment. Many times no one is with you and even if someone is there.

So it becomes difficult to raise so much money immediately. To solve this big problem, the central government is going to bring a new cashless treatment scheme. According to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon launch this scheme across the country. So that people injured in road accidents can get treatment without delay.

On what kind of accidents will this scheme be applicable?

This scheme will be applicable to all types of road accidents occurring due to the use of motor vehicles. That means, be it a highway, a city road or a village road, if a vehicle-related accident occurs at any place, the victim will be entitled to cashless treatment under this scheme. It will not be seen what type of accident it was or which vehicle it was. As soon as an accident happens.

The injured can be admitted to the designated hospital and there will be no need to pay money for treatment. Its biggest advantage will be that ambulance, police or common people will be able to immediately take the injured to the hospital without any fear. Getting timely treatment will significantly increase the chances of survival in serious cases. The clear objective of the government is that treatment should not stop due to money.

How much cashless treatment will be available?

The Road Transport Ministry started the pilot project of this scheme from Chandigarh on March 14, 2024, which was later extended to six states. Under the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, 2025, each victim will get cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per accident for a maximum of seven days from the date of the accident.
