An important update has come out for lakhs of students preparing for GATE 2026 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. The institute has currently postponed the date of release of GATE 2026 admit card. Earlier it was expected that candidates would be able to download their admit card from January 2, 2026, but now they will have to wait for a few more days. It has been clarified by IIT Guwahati that the new date of admit card will be announced soon and its information will be given through the official website and notice.
Many students are a little worried due to the extension of date regarding admit card, but the examination authority has appealed to the candidates not to panic and keep an eye on the official website regularly. As soon as the new date is decided, all the necessary information will be shared.
Mock test link will be active
Meanwhile, the relief news for the students is that the mock test link of GATE 2026 has been activated. IIT Guwahati has started the facility of mock tests on its official website, so that the candidates can test their level before the actual examination. Giving mock tests helps students to understand what the pattern of questions will be like, how to use time properly and what things need to be kept in mind in a computer based examination.
GATE exam is considered very important for engineering and science students every year. Through this, avenues of higher education open up in big institutions of the country like IIT, NIT and other prestigious colleges. Apart from this, many government and private companies also recruit on the basis of GATE score. In such a situation, the preparation of students for GATE 2026 is in full swing.
when is the exam to be held
Talking about the exam dates, GATE 2026 will be conducted at different examination centers across the country. This examination will be held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026. The examination will be completely computer based, that is, students will have to answer questions in online mode only. After the examination, answer keys and other information will also be released from time to time.
IIT Guwahati has also made it clear that the result of GATE 2026 will be declared on 19 March 2026. After the release of the result, candidates will be able to download their scorecard, which can be used for further admission or job.
