One of the most exciting players of Indian cricket, Rishabh Pant is all set to take the field once again. After about three months of injury and rehabilitation, it is a great news for the fans that Pant can soon be seen playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. He was away from cricket continuously after suffering a leg injury in Manchester during the England tour in July.
His rehab is being completed successfully at BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA). According to sources, Pant has shown good progress in both wicketkeeping and batting in the nets. Although the Delhi team has not included him in the team to play the first match of the Ranji season, which is to be played against Hyderabad, but his return is possible once he gets approval from the NCA medical team.
Entry may happen in second or third round
Sources say that Rishabh Pant can return to the field in the second round match against Himachal Pradesh starting from October 25 or against Puducherry in the third round starting from November 1. These matches will not be just a home match for them, but will also be a golden opportunity to prove their form and fitness before the upcoming South Africa Test series.
Relief news for Team India too
Pant’s return is also a relief for the Indian team. In recent months, the Test team has felt his lack in wicketkeeping. Rishabh Pant is not only a flamboyant batsman but his confidence behind the wicket makes Team India strong. If he looks fit and in rhythm in Ranji, then his return in the South Africa tour can be considered almost certain.
Fitness will be the key to selection
BCCI does not want to rush into Pant’s return. The selectors will keep an eye on how comfortably he plays in the domestic circuit. If everything goes as per plan, Pant can again become an important part of the Indian Test team.
