There is good news for the people waiting for audio and video calling feature on WhatsApp Web. The company has started rolling out this feature for beta users. This means that this feature will be rolled out soon for other users also. Till now the company used to provide the option of audio and video calling only through its official desktop app, but now it will be available on the web version also. Let us tell you that users were demanding this feature for a long time.
Currently only one to one calling option
According to media reports, initially one to one calling option will be available on WhatsApp Web and for group calls, users will have to wait for a while. The company has been working on this feature for about a year. Now this feature will work exactly like the desktop app on the web version also. Beta users for whom this feature has been rolled out say that it is very easy to use. All they have to do is go to WhatsApp Web and click on the call button. There is no need to download any additional software to use this feature.
Screen sharing option will also be available
During video calling on WhatsApp Web, users will also get the option of screen sharing. This option is already available on the mobile app. This means that now if you have to hold a meeting in the office, there will be no need for Google Meet or Microsoft Teams etc. You will be able to share your screen by making video calls directly from WhatsApp Web. After the introduction of group calling feature, this facility will become even more powerful.
Now there is a need for desktop app
With WhatsApp’s mobile app, you can enjoy audio and video calling along with chatting. But if you want to make a voice or video call from a desktop or laptop, you still need to install the WhatsApp app. After the introduction of the new feature, this obligation will end and calling can be availed directly from the web version.
