Big and relief news has come to the fore for lakhs of youth preparing to become teachers in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj has released the complete examination calendar of head teacher recruitment and eligibility test to be held in the year 2026. With the advent of this calendar, candidates have got the right direction and timetable for their preparation.
According to the official information released by the Commission, in the year 2026, Assistant Professor, Lecturer (PGT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and UP Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET) will be conducted on fixed dates. This calendar is considered very important for the candidates who have been waiting for the dates of these examinations for a long time.
First Assistant Professor’s Exam
As per the examination calendar, the examination of Assistant Professor Recruitment (Advt. No. 51) will be conducted on 18 April 2026 (Saturday) and 19 April 2026 (Sunday). This exam will last for two days. Earlier the dates regarding this recruitment were changed, due to which there was confusion among the candidates. Now the situation has become clear with the announcement of new dates.
PGT recruitment exam will be held in May
After this, Lecturer (PGT) recruitment examination (Advertisement No. 02/2022) will be conducted on 09 May 2026 (Saturday) and 10 May 2026 (Sunday). This recruitment is for those candidates who are dreaming of teaching on the post of lecturer in inter colleges.
TGT exam organized in June
The Commission has also informed that the examination of Assistant Teacher (TGT) Recruitment (Advertisement No. – 01/2022) has been proposed on 03 June 2026 (Wednesday) and 04 June 2026 (Thursday). Candidates have been preparing for TGT exam for a long time, hence the announcement of the dates has brought great relief to them.
UP TET 2026 will be held in July
UP Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET) 2026, considered the first step to becoming a teacher, will be conducted on 02 July 2026 (Thursday), 03 July 2026 (Friday) and 04 July 2026 (Saturday). A large number of candidates are expected to appear in this three-day long examination.

Why was the Assistant Professor exam postponed earlier?
While clarifying the situation regarding Assistant Professor recruitment, the Commission said that this examination was earlier proposed on 16 and 17 April 2025. But later it was postponed till 05 September 2025. Now the Commission has decided that this examination will be conducted according to the new schedule in the year 2026.
