‘The world should become a little more like India’, what made PM Modi so impressed that the President of Finland said – Your seat in the UNSC is confirmed…

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has advocated for India to get permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Alexander Stubb is on a four-day visit to India from March 4 to March 7. He said this in the joint press briefing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here. He has also appealed to the world to become a little more like India because this country respects the autonomy of others and moves forward from a practical perspective.

Talking about India’s growing role in the changing times, Alexander Stubb said, ‘The world is changing, we are going through a change in the global order and India, together with its friends in the Global South, will decide in which direction this order will go. Today we discussed security issues in this area. We also talked about defense matters and conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine. We agreed that ending the war was in everyone’s interest. There can be a lasting peace only when the principles of the United Nations are respected.

Alexander Stubb said, ‘I think it is very important for India to have a seat in the United Nations Security Council. We also talked about the relationship between India and the EU, and I believe that this strategic partnership is important. A good start is being made. 20 companies from Finland have come with me, which work in everything from technology to quantum, satellites, networks, food and green tech.

Praising PM Modi, Alexander Stubb said, ‘India is one of the largest and most influential countries in the world and the world’s largest democracy. As we have seen, you are now a major strategic partner for Europe. You are one of the fastest growing economies in the world, which we can see here every day.

On Indian foreign policy, Alexander Stubb said, ‘The specialty of your foreign policy is that you never remain in misunderstanding. You have always based your foreign policy on a practical and realistic approach. You have shown the world how important it is to protect strategic vigilance and autonomy, while also supporting multilateralism and global cooperation. I personally believe that the world should become a little more Indian.
