In this theft, the name of Farukh Aslam Khan has come out, who has stolen 261 jerseys from the BCCI office. The price of a jersey is around Rs 2,500. In this way, this person has stolen about 2.52 lakh rupees.
Police investigated
On theft in the BCCI office, the police say that Farooq Khan used to gambling online and he stole this IPL jersey for this gambling addiction. According to the information received by the police, Khan’s contact was from an online jersey dealer in Haryana through social media, where he used to send his stolen goods via courier.
How did Farooq Khan’s theft catch?
The theft in the office of the Board of Control for Cricket in India was caught when the stock audit was done. BCCI officials checked CCTV footage and saw that Farooq Khan was going out of the office with a big box. The police also questioned the dealer of Haryana in this case, then the dealer says that he did not know that it is a stolen goods. The dealer told that Khan had told him that he is part of the stock clearance team during office renovation.
Goods worth Rs 1.25 lakh recovered
A BCCI official lodged a complaint at Marine Drive Police Station on 17 July. The police have recovered 50 jerseys so far, which cost around Rs 1.25 lakh. The police also shattered Farooq Khan’s bank records, but the accused says that he lost all the money in online batting. Police is still investigating in this case.
