A heart-wrenching incident took place in Britain on Saturday evening (November 1) in a London-bound train. A person attacked several passengers with a knife in the train, in which 10 people were injured. The condition of 9 of these is said to be very serious. Police reached the spot and arrested two suspects.
The incident occurred just minutes after the train departed from Peterborough station at around 7.30 pm. This train was going from Doncaster to King’s Cross station in London, which is usually full of passengers.
What did the eyewitnesses say?
Eyewitnesses said they saw a man with a big knife and blood scattered all around. A passenger said that people hid in the bathroom to save their lives. During the stampede many people fell and climbed on each other. “People were shouting, ‘We love you’ – probably trying to calm someone down,” one witness told The Times. Another witness told Sky News that he heard one of the injured running away saying, “They have a knife, they have killed me.”
Speaking to the BBC, a third eyewitness said, “At first I thought some joke was going on, but then people started shouting ‘Run, run, he is stabbing everyone.’
British Transport Police said this
British Transport Police said that the help of Counter Terrorism Police is also being taken in the investigation of the incident so that the full reason and background of the attack can be known. Police officer Chris Casey said that the investigation is ongoing and it will take time to reach any conclusion.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the attack horrific
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the attack as extremely horrific and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He appealed to the people to follow the instructions of the police.
