On Wednesday (January 28), a bird collided with an IndiGo plane coming from Goa towards Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad) during landing. There were 211 passengers on board the plane during this incident. The pilot immediately understood the situation and landed the plane safely. Due to this, all the passengers came out safely without any injury.
The Indigo plane taking off from Goa was landing towards the runway of Shamshabad airport when a bird collided with it. The pilot immediately informed the Airport Operations Control Centre. After the safe landing of the aircraft, the airside safety team inspected the runway. During investigation, no remains or parts of the bird were found on the runway, following which normal flight operations continued at the airport.
The pilot handled the situation immediately
According to aircraft experts, the pilot immediately handled the situation with a calm mind as soon as he realized the collision with the bird, due to which a major danger was averted. ATC officials along with the security team conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft. All parts including engine, wings, nose cone were examined in detail. However, no major damage was reported.
Bird strike incidents increased
Incidents of bird strikes have increased in India in recent months. Such incidents were recorded at many airports like Bhopal, Nagpur, Patna, in which emergency landing had to be done in some cases. Two more incidents were reported at Shamshabad Airport on the same day due to engine failure and other technical problems. All these incidents indicate the need to pay more attention to aviation security.
In this incident, the lives of the passengers were saved due to the skill and teamwork of the pilot. Indigo Airlines and the airport administration took immediate action and confirmed that all passengers were safe. Experts say that such incidents show the need to further strengthen bird control systems around the airport.
