Whatsapp Features: WhatsApp keeps bringing new features every few days but many of us use it only for chat and calls. Meanwhile, many such advanced features have been quietly added to the app which improve your privacy, convenience and chatting experience. Let us know what these features are and why they are important.
Automatic high-quality photo sharing
Most messaging apps compress photos but in WhatsApp you can now always send photos and videos in HD quality. No need to select it separately by pressing HD icon, you can set it as default. For this, go to Settings > Storage and Data > Media Upload Quality and select HD. Although this will use a little more storage, the quality of the photos remains excellent.
Secure your account with a password
WhatsApp now supports passkey login in which your face or fingerprint is your identity. If the phone is stolen or someone tries to setup your WhatsApp, the app will not be able to open without your biometric ID. To turn it on, go to Settings > Account > Passkeys. You can also activate end-to-end encrypted backup in Chats > Chat Backup.
Run two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone
Earlier, to run two numbers, app clone or WhatsApp Business was required. Now WhatsApp has made the multi-account feature available for all Android users. Go to the three-dot menu > Settings and tap the + icon next to your name. Follow a few steps and your second account is ready without any additional apps.
Instant translation within chat
Want to read a message in another language? Now there is no need to open a separate app. Long press the message, select More and tap Translate. Translations will appear immediately once the language pack is downloaded. If you want, you can also turn on auto-translation for the entire chat thread, which makes reading foreign language chats very easy.
AI based smart summary for group chats
Missed the ongoing group chat?
Meta AI’s new Message Summaries feature creates a short and clear summary of the entire chat for you. If there is an unread message, the option of Summarise Privately will appear. This feature is processed in the phone itself, meaning your chat does not go to Meta. However, currently it is available in limited languages and regions.
