Amla, also known as Indian Gujberry, is considered a treasure of health in Ayurveda and Unani medicine. It contains vitamin C, antioxidants, fiber and many nutrients. This is the reason why it is used well as juice, powder, pickle and supplements. Amla strengthens immunity, improves digestion and also balances the skin and sugar level. But it is not beneficial for everyone. This can also harm some people. Let’s know which 6 types of people should avoid eating gooseberry.
Whose blood sugar already remains low
Amla helps in controlling sugar, but if someone already has a problem of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), then Amla can be dangerous for them. Constant weakness, dizziness or fainting can occur.
People with acidity or stomach sensitivity
The taste of amla is sour and astringent, in which the amount of vitamin C is very high. It can prick stomach lining. People who have gastric problems, acidity or ulcer problems should not eat amla, otherwise it may cause stomach pain, burning or blotting.
Blood-thining medicine patients
Amla has natural blood-thinning properties. If someone is already taking blood thinning drugs such as warfarin, aspirin or clopidogrel, then taking gooseberry can increase the risk of bleeding. This can prove dangerous especially if surgery or injury.
People with kidney stone
Amla is rich in vitamin C. In the body, it can increase the risk of becoming a kidney stone by turning it into oxalate. People who have already have kidney stone problems or do not work correctly, should not take amla in large quantities.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women
Amla can be beneficial in limited amounts during pregnancy. But its consumption in excessive amounts can make the stomach upset, diarrhea and the body can cool excessively. Since scientific research on this is limited, pregnant and breastfeeding women should take amla only with the advice of a doctor or Ayurvedic specialist.
Those who have allergies or food sensitivity
Some people may have allergic reactions from amla, such as itching on the skin, red rash, vomiting or abdominal pain. People who are already allergic to berry or citrus fruits should be cautious before eating gooseberry.
